NFL: Ravens Beat Odds, but Patriots
Headed to Super Bowl XLVI
The Baltimore Ravens beat the +7 NFL odds, but their shot
at Super Bowl XLVI went wide left.
With 11 seconds remaining the Ravens set themselves up for
overtime with kicker Billy Cundiff ready to kick a 32-yard,
game-tying field goal. Unfortunately, Cundiff went Ray Finkle
and shanked the field goal wide left, propelling the Patriots to
the Super Bowl with a 23-20 win.

The fault shouldn't completely go to Cundiff. The Ravens
had a chance to win it all when Flacco threw a perfect pass to
Lee Evans in the corner of the endzone. Evans caught the ball,
but didn’t secure it, giving Patriots corner Sterling Moore the
opportunity to tap it out incomplete.
Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco had a rebound performance after
being called out last week, finishing with 306 passing yards two
touchdowns and one interception. Tom Brady had an ugly game,
throwing two picks with just 239 yards.
Betting Analysis: It will be interesting to see what angle
oddsmakers take once the NFC half of the Super Bowl is decided.
Brady and the Patriots looked very human on Sunday, especially
versus the Ravens’ pass rush. With the impressive defense in New
York on the horizon, there’s a chance Brady could struggle again
on Feb. 5.
Look for the
Super Bowl Odds
to be a little closer than expected, with the Patriots likely
favorite.
