Thomas "Lefty" Oscar Judd was born in Rebecca, Ont. in 1908. This classy southpaw first appeared in the majors with the Red Sox in 1941, at the age of 33. He stayed with the Red Sox until 1945, winning 20 games during his American League career. Oscar won 11 games for the 1943 Sox, and joined the American League All-Star team in Philadelphia that summer. He played with the National League Phillies from 1945 until he left the majors in 1948, having won 20 games in the National League. He won 11 games for the 1946 Phil's, beating the NL champion Cardinals 4 times during the year. At the age of 40, Judd joined Toronto of the International League, where he won 14 games, including a no-hitter vs Syracuse. He was always a good hitter and was frequently used as a pinch hitter. Judd was elected to the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 1986.
