The NFL preseason gets into full swing this week with five on the board for Thursday. Off a miracle playoff run including a stunning upset of the powerful New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII the Champion G-Men start practice season bumping pads with the Detroit Lions. The opener should prove an interesting one. Coughlin's mantra this season seems to be "Go Deep". The team's passing game reflects that new, bold attitude with Eli Manning airing it out repeatedly during practice. A test for lowly Lions who who finished last in passing yards allowed and who've made a slew of changes on the defensive end in the off-season. Lions enter 12-20 (10-22 ATS) in preseason the past eight years, 8-8 (5-11 ATS) at home but are a profitable 4-2 against-the-oddsmaker the past six home openers. Giants come in 14-19 (15-17-1 ATS) since 2000 in August and a horrible 5-11 (6-10 ATS) on the highway including 1-3 SU & ATS on the road in week one. Betting on the NFL in August is a completely different exercise than betting on the same sport a month later. Don't get caught on the wrong side in any of the NFL preseason action.
